About Type1Cure

An intelligence hub built for T1D families.

We track research, clinical trials, devices, safety alerts, and community signals — then turn them into evidence-labeled briefings you can actually act on. No miracle language. No pay-to-rank. Just the clearest possible picture of where Type 1 diabetes science stands today.

Who built this

Type1Cure was built by a T1D family. Our daughter was diagnosed as a child. This site exists because we needed it — a single place that separates real clinical progress from noise, labels every source honestly, and never mistakes a press release for a breakthrough.

The lived-experience voice on this site is Brooke — a pseudonymous persona who ages alongside the research. Her chapters are personal experience shared to make T1D families feel less alone. They are not medical advice.

The trust layer

How we label evidence

Every item on Type1Cure carries one of seven evidence labels. Before you read anything, you know exactly what kind of source it came from. There are no unlabeled clinical claims anywhere on this site.

Peer-reviewed

Published in a scientific journal with independent expert review. The highest tier of evidence we track.

Preprint

Posted publicly before peer review. May be important early signal — always labeled separately until a journal accepts it.

Clinical trial

A registered, controlled human study. Phase, enrollment status, and endpoints are tracked from ClinicalTrials.gov.

Regulatory

An FDA recall, approval, safety alert, or MedWatch notice. These are escalated above all other content types.

Company PR

A press release or investor announcement from a device or drug maker. Labeled as PR until independently supported by clinical evidence.

News / journalism

Third-party media coverage. Useful for context and early signal, never treated as primary evidence.

Anecdotal / lived experience

Community stories, social content, and personal accounts. Valuable for understanding real-world life with T1D — not clinical evidence.

Where the data comes from

Our source coverage

We pull from official APIs, permitted feeds, and public registries — never from blind scraping of restricted platforms. Source pulls are idempotent with deduplication, retries, and canonical IDs.

Editorial independence

Our editorial rules

These are not aspirations. They are operational constraints baked into how content is ingested, labeled, and published.

No miracle language.

We do not write cure claims, supplement hype, or treatment directives. If a trial delays onset, we say that. If it cures nothing yet, we say that too.

Sponsors never influence editorial.

Affiliate links, display ads, and sponsorships are disclosed and separated. No paid placement changes a safety label, evidence tier, or research ranking.

Every clinical claim is labeled.

Every piece of content carries one of our seven evidence labels. You always know whether you're reading peer-reviewed data or a company press release.

High-stakes content enters a human review queue.

Safety alerts, trial eligibility items, and sponsor-sensitive content are reviewed before publication.

Business model

How we stay independent

Running this site has costs. Here is exactly how we pay for it, and why none of it influences what we report.

Affiliate links

We may earn a commission on practical T1D gear (bags, patches, supplies) via disclosed affiliate links. Affiliate relationships have zero influence on safety coverage or evidence labels.

Display advertising

Standard display ads may appear on the site. Advertisers do not influence editorial content, rankings, or which trials we track.

Sponsorship

Clearly labeled newsletter and event sponsorships. Sponsors get reach — not editorial control, claims review, or native placement in coverage.

Premium intelligence

A future paid tier for daily alerts, trial watches, and research briefs. The free site stays free. Payment from companies being covered never influences what we report.

We are not a medical advice service. Nothing on this site substitutes for the guidance of your own care team.
